The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System General Operator (GMDSS) course, will enable the student to become qualified personnel in charge of emergency, urgency, distress and routine communications. The course provides a wide knowledge of all GMDSS equipment and procedures, on board vessels navigating in area A1 (continuous VHF DSC coverage from the SRC equipped with VHF TR).
This course covers required training and competences in Table A-IV/2 of the STCW Code for GMDSS Radio Operators.
Upon successful completion of this course and passing the required examination, a trainee should be able to:
- Fulfill primary radio communications responsibility during distress, urgency, safety, and routine incidents.
- Efficiently operate GMDSS equipment required in sea area A1

This online course is based on an 70-hour in-person course.
